Here's Time Frame For Winter-Like Storm Bringing Mix Of Sleet, Rain, Accumulating Snow The first winter-like storm of the season will result in slick roadways in some spots in the region and up to a foot of snowfall in parts of upstate New York and northern New England. The time frame for the system is Tuesday evening, Nov. 15 into Wednesday morning, Nov. 16. Here's When Scattered Snowfall Could Cause Slick Roadways In Region A quick-moving system will bring scattered snowfall that could cause slick roadways in much of the region. That time frame for that system is from about midday Wednesday, Dec. 8, into late Wednesday afternoon. Here's Latest On Quick-Moving Storm: How Much Snow To Expect, And Where It Will Fall A quick-moving new storm system will bring accumulating snowfall to much of the region, causing slippery travel, especially for the evening commute on Monday, Feb. 22. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in areas in New York and Connecticut north of I-287 and the Merritt Parkway, where 2 to 4 inches of snowfall is now possible. Mainly rain is expected in New York City, on Long Island, and the immediate surrounding suburbs, with some light snow possibly mixing in at times. Crashes Reported On I-684, Taconic, Cross County Parkways Light snow and slippery roads have resulted in some crashes in the area on Friday morning, Feb. 19. New York State Police reported several crashes, including one in Bedford that slowed traffic earlier on I-684. But state police said that, overall, there have not been a large number of crashes. "We haven't experienced any significant crashes this morning," said Trooper AJ Hicks. There was another crash on the Cross County Parkway in New Rochelle, but police said there were no major backups from the crash. Potential Increases For Light Accumulating Snowfall This Week As temperatures remain colder than normal through midweek, there's now an increasing possibility for a brief round of light accumulating snowfall. The quick-moving system will sweep through the region on Wednesday morning, Dec. 9. The time frame for snowfall is currently from about 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. During that time, a trace to a half-inch or inch of accumulation is possible, which could cause slippery road conditions. Projected snowfall totals have increased for the powerful storm that will bring a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain to the region. The storm will arrive Monday night, Dec. 16 and continue through Tuesday evening, Dec. 17. A total of 3 inches of accumulation is now predicted for areas north of I-287 in New York and the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service in projections released late Monday afternoon.
