Man From Region Bites, Fights Officers, Police Say
A Hudson Valley was charged with assault after allegedly fighting and biting police officers who responded to a domestic-related disturbance.
Dutchess County resident Shanteek Gaines, age 43, of Poughkeepsie, was taken into custody on Sunday, Dec. 31 on N. Bridge Street in Poughkeepsie.
According to the city of Poughkeepsie Police, multiple officers were sent to a home on a report of a disturbance.
When they attempted to arrest Gaines, he resisted by fighting and biting officers, police said.

Stranded Driver In Region Flees From Troopers, Strikes Cop Cars: Police
They say no good deed goes unpunished, and that was apparently the case when New York State Police troopers stopped to help a stranded driver in the region.
Troopers in Rensselaer County stopped at around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, to assist a disabled vehicle in the Town of Brunswick, on State Route 2.
According to troopers, at some point during their interaction the driver, 52-year-old Michael Messier, of Troy, became uncooperative and ignored their commands.
Messier then fled in his car, striking police vehicles in the process, troopers said. No troopers were injured in the ordeal.

Drunk, Wrong-Way Driver Flees On Foot After Being Busted On Thruway, Police Say
An alleged drunk driver is facing multiple charges after he was busted driving the wrong way on a highway in the region, authorities said.
Greene County resident Conor Moan, age 25, of Greenville, was arrested for felony DWI and other charges following a near-crash that occurred early Sunday, March 5, on the Thruway in Schenectady County, in the town of Rotterdam.
Troopers first spotted Moan at around 2 a.m. as he drove a Subaru Legacy westbound in the eastbound lane on I-90 near exit 26, according to State Police. They avoided a head-on crash by veering onto the right shoulder.

After he was found trespassing in the parking lot of a Hudson Valley business, a drunk man gave police a false name before a brief attempt to run away from the scene, police said.
On Sunday, Oct. 23, around 2 a.m. in Putnam County, police officers in Kent found a man sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of Chris' Automotive located at 349 NY-52, and decided to find out why the man was at the business after hours, police said.

Man Accused Of Threatening To Kill Cops Damages Hotel After Arrest In Region, Police Say
A 41-year-old man has been accused of damaging a hotel in the Hudson Valley after being released following an arrest during an altercation with police officers earlier in the day at a convenience store/gas station.
The incidents happened Thursday, Oct. 6 in Rockland County, in the Village of Airmont.
The man, whose name was not released by Ramapo Police, "violently resisted arrest, spit in the face and on the arms of several officers, while threatening to kill the officers," the department said.

Man Driving Drunk Becomes Combative With Troopers In Region, Police Say
A 29-year-old man is facing felony charges after police said he drove while intoxicated in Westchester County and shoved a trooper against a patrol car, causing damage.
Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-95 in Larchmont for vehicle and traffic violations at about 11:10 p.m. on Friday, June 24, according to New York State Police.
The driver, identified as Philip Thompson, of New Rochelle, was found to be intoxicated, police said.

A wanted man from Westchester County is behind bars after leading officers on a foot chase that included a detour through a stranger’s home, according to police.
Marquise Roberson, age 33, of Peekskill, was arrested Sunday, May 15, after his wife’s grandmother called police in Rye and said he was banging on her front door, authorities said.
