On Wednesday, Feb. 9 Pearl River High School was hosting the Nyack High School boy’s basketball game when video showed Pearl River fans making monkey noises as Black players for the opposing team shot free throws. The backlash to the incident was swift, with school and county officials speaking out against the racist actions, which also reportedly continued through warmups and throughout the game. The charges were announced by Orangetown Police on Wednesday, June 24, in connection with the fatal crash which took place on Route 304 on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, in Pearl River. A wake will be held from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, at F. Ruggiero & Sons Funeral Home, 732 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, for Altin Nezaj, 17, who died during a crash on Sunday, Oct. 13, that also killed another teen and critically injured another. Two Teens Killed After Porsche Crashes Onto Tracks, Bursts Into Flames In Area Two teenagers were killed and a third was injured after a Porsche crashed off of an overpass onto train tracks before bursting into flames in Rockland County. The two-vehicle crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 in Pearl River on Route 304 in the vicinity of the Crooked Hill Road overpass.  Responding officers reported one of the vehicles was on fire along with serious injuries to multiple occupants.
