Man From Region Nabbed Driving Drunk At 3 Times Legal Limit, Police Say A Hudson Valley man is behind bars for allegedly driving drunk at three times the legal limit. Orange County resident Jorge L. Tapia-Ramirez, age 46, of Middletown, was charged around 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20 in the town of Wallkill. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police, the department received multiple 911 calls reporting an erratic driver in a white 2019 Chevrolet Express van on I-84 in Wallkill. Parolee Nabbed With Guns, Drugs During Traffic Stop In Area, Police Say A Hudson Valley man on parole was busted for alleged possession of a loaded gun and drugs during a traffic stop by state police. Orange County resident Tyrone Burkes, age 33, was arrested on Thursday, July 15, in the City of Newburgh during a traffic stop, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel. According to Nevel, Burks was a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop on Farrington Street in the city of Newburgh.  He attempted to flee the scene on foot. State Police Issue Alert For Wanted Woman A 32-year-old woman is wanted by New York State Police in the Hudson Valley after being busted with heroin and cocaine during a traffic stop, investigators said. Ivelisse Dickens is wanted by New York State Police in Montgomery and the Orange County Court following her arrest for fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. US Army Vet Sentenced For Drunken Crash That Killed Best Friend A veteran of the US Army who killed his best friend while driving drunk in Orange County will spend time behind bars. Robert Higgins, 25, of Highland Mills, was sentenced in Orange County Court to a term of between one and two-third to five years in prison after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated in October last year. In addition to the prison sentence, Higgins’ driver’s license was revoked and he was fined $1,275.
