The collision occurred in Orange County around 12:10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10 on I-87 between Exit 17 in Newburgh and Exit 16 in Harriman. A preliminary investigation determined that a 30-year-old Albany man was operating a Peterbilt tractor-trailer southbound on I-87 when he sideswiped a Volvo bobtail tractor which was stopped on the right shoulder of the roadway, said New York State Trooper Tara McCormick. Troopers Manage To Lasso Cow Running Wild On NY State Thruway New York State troopers were called to a different kind of emergency when they received a call regarding a cow running loose on the New York State Thruway. Having seen and heard it all before. Members from Troop T and F grabbed a rope and headed to Greene County on Tuesday, May 19, where the cow was reported on the Thruway in the town of Catskill. Once on the scene, they found the cow impeding traffic and were concerned about a crash taking place. The troopers, not be deterred, successfully lassoed and detained the cow until the owner responded to the scene to remove it.

Black Bears Stuck In Sullivan County Shed Rescued By Troopers, DEC Officers Two black bears stuck in a shed in the area were saved with help from a few law enforcement officers. The bears were located in Sullivan County on Wednesday, April 15, in Rock Hill, said officials with the state Department of Environmental Conservation. DEC Officers Glen Parker and Ricky Wood responded and found two yearling black bears stuck inside a shed.  The bears had knocked over a number of items inside the shed and were trapped inside.  With assistance from two New York State troopers, the officers were able to open the shed doors just wide enough for the bears to escape …

Andrew Cuomo for seven New York counties, including Ulster, as a winter storm continues to impact the region.
