Caitlyn Jenner, a former Olympian and media personality, paid a visit to Long Island to publicly back a recent executive order banning transgender women from participating in women’s sports.

An anesthesiologist faces charges after allegedly giving anesthesia to a victim without her knowledge and sexually assaulting her, police announced.
Putnam County resident Paul Giacopelli of Southeast, age 59, was interviewed and arrested on Saturday, Dec. 30 on sexual abuse charges, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
According to authorities, on Friday, Dec. 29, the Sheriff's Office was told that a female victim known to Giacopelli had been given anesthesia without her knowledge and was then sexually assaulted.

Man From Region Who Served In Navy, Worked As Physical Therapist Dies
A native of Northern Westchester who served in the military and worked as a physical therapist has died.
Peter E. Clark, who was born in Mount Kisco and graduated from Fox Lane High School in Bedford, was age 62.
He died on Sunday, April 30, and was a longtime resident of Palm Harbor, Florida.
After growing up in Bedford and graduating high school, he joined the US Navy and served his time in honor of his country out at sea during the time of the Libyan Crisis, according to his obituary.

One hospital in the Hudson Valley is at the top of its class for keeping patients safe, according to a new report.
Westchester County's White Plains Hospital, located at 41 East Post Rd, has been assigned an "A" grade for patient safety in a new Fall 2022 report by the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization that advocates for safety in hospitals.

Woman Accused Of Stealing $2,500 From Staples In Region
A Northern Westchester woman was allegedly caught stealing more than $2,500 from a business through fraudulent refunds.
Octavia Johnson, age 37, of Mount Kisco, was arrested at the Staples on Noth Bedford Road on Tuesday, Aug. 9, and charged with grand larceny.
According to the Westchester County Police, Johnson was caught after loss prevention staff provided documentation alleging she stole more than $2,500 through fraudulent refund transactions.
She is due in Mount Kisco Court on Thursday, Aug. 25.
26-Year-Old Accused Of Placing Surveillance Cameras In Bedroom Of Home In Region
A 26-year-old was charged with eavesdropping after investigators reported that he hid surveillance cameras in the master bedroom of a Northern Westchester home.
Melvin Perez-Lopez, of Mount Kisco, was arrested on Friday, July 15, following an investigation, according to a report from the Town of Bedford Police Department on Wednesday, July 27.
On Tuesday, April 19, a homeowner in Bedford Hills reported finding two covert surveillance cameras that were hidden in their master bedroom while they were away, police said.

Area Woman, 23, Remembered For Her 'Overwhelmingly Desire To Help Others'
As family and friends say a final goodbye to a 23-year-old woman from the region who died after being struck in the head by a passing train, she is being remembered for her desire to help others.
Putnam County resident, Hope Mantovi, of Mahopac, was struck around 8:30 p.m., Saturday, March 19, in Woodlawn in the Bronx, said Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials.
Mantovi died on Friday, April 8, at St. Barnabas Hospital from injuries incurred during the accident.
