Man Who Stepped Out Of Vehicle After Crash With Deer Struck, Killed By SUV In Mamakating A 70-year-old man was hit and killed by an SUV  when he stepped out of a vehicle to inspect the damage after hitting a deer. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 6:40 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21 in the town of Mamakating, said Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police. According to Nevel, troopers responded to Route 209 for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.  A preliminary investigation revealed that Orange County resident James F. Woman Left 50 Dogs In Area Home With Little Food, Water, Police Say Dozens of dogs were abandoned with limited food and water by a Hudson Valley woman who is now facing animal abuse charges. In Orange County, New York State Police investigators arrested Gulsen Iroldi, age 41, of Unionville, on Wednesday, Oct. 20 under a statute of the Agriculture and Markets Law for torturing animals and failure to provide sustenance. Police said that the investigation determined that Iroldi left approximately 50 dogs in an area residence with very little food and water. Though the state continues to contain the virus, there was an uptick in the number of cases in Ulster and Orange counties reported this week. In Ulster County, there were 37 new cases reported on Thursday, July 30 out of 967 people tested, bringing the infection rate up to 3.8 percent.
