Saugerties HS Grad Named District's New Superintendent A new school superintendent has been named to take over a Hudson Vally school district after the former leader resigned. Dr. Daniel Erceg was unanimously approved to take the helm of the Saugerties Central School District in Ulster County at a special Board of Education meeting held on Tuesday, June 27.  A Saugerties resident, Erceg graduated from Saugerties High School in 2002, officials said. The controversy began last week in Ulster County when Saugerties High School English teacher Hope Antonelli, gave her ninth-grade English class a writing assignment stating that “George Floyd did not die because (Derek) Chauvin’s knee was on his neck. Covid-19: Saugerties School District Goes Remote After Increase In Cases The Saugerties School District has shifted from in-person to remote classes after an "increase in cases," according to Superintendent Kirk Reinhardt.  The district's high school, elementary schools and secondary schools will all shift to online classes starting on Friday, Dec. 11 until Monday, Jan. 4. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Port Jervis School District announced that a staff member at Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School reported a positive COVID-19 test in the wake of a second employee testing positive.
