Highland Woman Feuding With Neighbor Beats Him With Baseball Bat, Police Say A Hudson Valley woman who had been fighting with a neighbor allegedly beat him with a baseball bat and then busted out his car windows. Ulster County resident Genesis Spatola, age 42, of Highland, was charged on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in Highland. According to Chief James Janso of the town of Lloyd Police, Spatola is accused of assaulting her 72-year-old neighbor with a baseball bat causing injuries to the victim’s face and legs.  Spatola is also accused of smashing out the victim’s car windows with the baseball bat causing extensive damage to the vehicle, Janso said. Hudson Valley Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Driver Crash In Highland Identified A Hudson Valley woman killed when an SUV crossed the roadway into oncoming traffic has been identified by police. Dutchess County resident Li Hongling, age 50, of Poughkeepsie, was killed Sunday, Aug. 6, on Route 9W in Ulster County in the town of Highland. Highland Mom Charged With Letting Son, 10, Get 'Real' Tattoo, Police Say A Hudson Valley mom has been charged with allegedly allowing her 10-year-old son to get a permanent tattoo. Ulster County resident Crystal Thomas, age 33, of Highland, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 4, said the town of Lloyd Police. According to Chief James Janso, of the town of Lloyd, Thomas allowed her juvenile child to get a large permanent ink tattoo on his body at a hotel in Lloyd. State law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from getting a tattoo, regardless of parental consent. Thomas was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and released on an appearance …

Highland Woman Killed By Own Vehicle In Driveway Of Home A woman was killed after she was run over by her own vehicle in a freak accident in the area. The incident took place around 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 12, when in Ulster County on Sterling Place in Highland. According to Town of Lloyd Police Chief James Janso, the 84-year-old Highland woman had pulled into the driveway of her residence and exited her car when it began to roll back in the driveway.  The woman attempted to stop the vehicle and was struck by the car.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident is still under investigation.  L…

Ulster County Man Found Dead In Vehicle, Police Say An area man was found dead in a vehicle on the shoulder of a roadway. The incident took place around 7:39 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, on Upper Grant Street in Highland in Ulster County, when the Town of Lloyd Police responded to a call of a deceased man. When officers arrived on the scene they found a 65-year-old Highland man dead in the driver's seat of his vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway, said Town of Lloyd Chief of Police James Janso. No foul play is suspected.  The cause is death is believed to be natural/medical pending an autopsy report, Janso said.
