Man Struck, Killed By Pickup Truck On Roadway In Region
Police are investigating a rush-hour crash on a busy Hudson Valley roadway that killed one man. The Rockland County incident happened on Wednesday, Dec. 20 in the town of Ramapo. At approximately 5:30 p.m., a 52-year-old man was walking north in the southbound lanes on Route 59 in the village of Hillburn, Ramapo Police said. As he was nearing the intersection of Route 59 and 4th Street, the man was hit by a 2023 Honda Ridgeline truck. Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Embezzling Nearly $100K From Soccer Club
Following a six-month investigation, a Hudson Valley man has been charged with allegedly embezzling some $100,000 from a soccer club. According to the Ramapo Police, a 35-year-old Hillburn resident was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. The department said the charges allege that between 2020 and 2022, the man embezzled more than $95,000 from the Ramapo Valley Soccer Club. The person charged was not named by the Ramapo Police Department. He was arraigned and released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court in November.

Incarcerated Gymnastics Coach From Hudson Valley Charged With New Sex Crime Against Child
A popular local gymnastics coach already locked up for sexually abusing a child is facing a new allegation of sex abuse. Joseph Lewin, age 71, of Hillburn in Rockland County, also known as Joseph Lewandoski in the 1990s, was arraigned Friday, Sept. 30, on one count of felony sexual conduct against a child under the age of 13. According to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Lewin sexually abused the female victim between 2012 and 2015 while working as a gymnastics coach at his gym in the Village of Hillburn in the Town of Ramapo. Man Involved In I-287 Crash Had BAC More Than Twice Legal Limit, Police Say
A driver had a blood alcohol concentration more than double the legal limit when he was involved in a one-vehicle crash on I-287 in the Hudson Valley, state police announced. In Rockland County, New York State Police troopers responded to the reported crash on I-287 at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11 in Hillburn, where there was a Jeep disabled in the left lane. Brush Fire Backs Up Traffic On Old Route 17 As Firefighters Battle Blaze
Motorists should expect delays in the area of Old Route 17 in Rockland County due to a large brush fire. The fire, which was first detected late on Sunday, Nov. 8, continued to burn early Monday, Nov. 9, by the bus garage in Hillburn, Ramapo Police said. A Rockland County resident received an unexpected visitor when a rattlesnake made its way up an area driveway. A Hillburn resident reported to police over the weekend that a rattlesnake made a surprise guest appearance on his property, prompting an emergency response from police in Ramapo. According to police, a local snake handler and expert responded to the Blakslee Place home and safely removed the rattlesnake from the driveway, who has been relocated to a safe place. Motorist Extricated After Route 17 Crash
An injured motorist had to be extricated from his vehicle by first responders in Rockland County after crashing. First responders responded to a stretch of Route 17 underneath the New York Thruway overpass in Hillburn late in the afternoon on Sunday, Oct. 6, where there was a report of a crash, and a driver struck inside with injuries.
