A New York State Police trooper got an unpleasant surprise while nabbing a wanted man in the region. The incident began when 26-year-old Nathaniel Mahabier, of Cobleskill in Schoharie County, was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation on I-88 in Schoharie at around 2:50 p.m. Thursday, May 25. A Hudson Valley man was charged with felony DWI after allegedly driving drunk with children in the car. The incident took place in Rockland County around 3 a.m., Monday, Sept. 19, in Ramapo. According to the Ramapo Police, a 37-year-old Orange County resident from Monroe was stopped for a routine traffic infraction when officers noticed he was allegedly impaired by alcohol. Man From Region Involved In Crash Gives Fake Name To Officers, Police Say
A 40-year-old man from Northern Westchester is facing charges after police said he gave officers a fake name following a crash. Police responded to a report of a property damage crash on Route 202 in Yorktown at about 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, according to the Yorktown Police Department. The Yorktown man, who was one of the drivers involved in the crash, was not able to show a driver's license and gave police a name and date of birth. A man was arrested for allegedly attacking and injuring a New York State Police trooper and then fleeing during a traffic stop in the area. Antwonn J. Williams Jr., age 25, of Newburgh, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 14, in the city of Newburgh, said Troopers Steven Nevel.
