With the holiday break fast approaching, an area school district is dealing with a new outbreak of COVID-19 cases among students and staff as New York contends with the winter surge of infections. In Westchester, Irvington Schools Superintendent Kristopher Harrison issued an alert to the community advising that there were eight newly confirmed COVID-19 infections reported within the school. New COVID-19 cases have led to school closures at a district in Westchester. The Irvington Union Free District announced three members of the school community tested positive for COVID, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kristopher Harrison announced on Saturday, Jan. 9. A school in the Hudson Valley has extended its closure after a positive case of COVID-19. Dows Lane Lane Elementary School, located in Westchester County in Irvington-on-Hudson, was closed for in-person learning Friday, Oct. 2. All Dows Lane students participated in remote learning with all other Irvington schools open. It's happened in Westchester County, where the Irvington Union Free School District said it was informed that an individual at Dows Lane Lane Elementary School tested positive for COVID.
