2 Rock Hill Men Nabbed Cutting Copper Pipes Off Heating Unit, Police Say
Two men from the region were charged with felony burglary after allegedly being caught inside a home cutting copper pipes off of a heating system.
The incident occurred in Sullivan County around 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1 in the town of Thompson at 409 Rock Hill Drive.
According to Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and found the two men identified as Damien Somolinos, age 34, and Richard Galeano, Jr, age 51, both of Rock Hill, inside a residence, cutting copper pipes off of the heating system.

Wrong-Way Driver Intentionally Strikes Cop Car During Pursuit In Region, Police Say
A 36-year-old man is facing charges following a wrong-way highway pursuit in the region in which he intentionally struck a cop car, authorities allege.
Daniel Hammon, of Albany, was arrested on a warrant Thursday, Oct. 19, in connection with the July 2023 incident on I-90 in Rensselaer County.
An Albany County Sheriff’s deputy was chasing Hammon on I-90 in East Greenbush on July 25, 2023, when a State Police trooper began assisting in the pursuit.
During the chase, Hammon drove the wrong way on I-90 and intentionally drove into a marked police car, according to State Police.

Arsonist Sets Fire To Business, Home In Region, Police Say
A man is facing charges in connection with intentional fires that were set at a home and business in the region.
Michael Kabler, age 49, who is homeless, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 7, after multiple agencies responded to a residential fire at the Sunset Trailer Park in Colonie, located on Central Avenue, at around 6 a.m.
According to Colonie Police, investigators determined that Kabler was responsible for the fire and had been squatting in the trailer.
No other homes were damaged and nobody else was injured.

A 31-year-old man is accused of breaking into a complete stranger’s home in the region and physically attacking her, minutes after getting booted off an Amtrak train.
The Columbia County incident unfolded at around 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, in the city of Hudson, at the Hudson Terrace Apartments located on South Front Street.

Orange County resident Samuel Espada, age 44, of Harriman, was arrested on Monday, Aug. 21 in the town of Newburgh.

Restaurant Burglary: 3 Monticello Men Nabbed By Surveillance Video, Police Say
Three men from the region have been charged with the burglary of a popular deli and grill following an investigation.
The three, all Sullivan County residents, from Monticello, were arrested on Sunday, June 18 by the Monticello Police for the burglary at the NY Deli and Grill at 17 Liberty St. in Monticello.
The burglary took place on Saturday, June 10, said Lt. Mark Johnstone, of the Monticello Police.
An investigation revealed that at around 11:35 p.m., Leonard Jacobs, age 41, used a piece of asphalt to break the front door window of the restaurant, Johnstone said.

Police have arrested a suspect in a series of arson fires that were set in the region, including one that heavily damaged a church.
In Albany County, police and fire crews in Colonie were called at around 12:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, with reports of a brush fire in the traffic roundabout at Albany Shaker and Maxwell roads.
The fire left minor damage to a grassy area, according to the Colonie Police Department.
