Andrew Cuomo declared a “disaster emergency," due to the rise in gun violence, a new survey shows New Yorkers are just as worried. The survey, conducted by SafeWise, polled over 5,000 Americans in their annual State of Safety survey which focuses on crime, their feelings about crime, and their overall feeling of safety and security. Survey results showed that New Yorkers were the most worried residents in the U.S. when it comes to violence and becoming a victim of balance. Holiday Patrols In Commercial Areas Help Reduced Crime In Orange County Town, Police Say Police in an Orange County town are pointing to increased patrols as the reason for a low number of crimes in the commercial areas during the holiday season. The New Windsor Police Department conducted holiday patrols in the commercial areas of town during the month of December 2020, said Deputy Chief Michael Farbent.
