A damage survey determined the timing to be around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Broome County about 10 miles north of Binghamton in the hamlet of Castle Creek. It had an estimated maximum wind speed of 100 miles per hour. The tornado tracked 0.61 miles, with a width of 150 yards. The women "were on their way back home from the Dulles airport," their family told Daily Voice. They were struck dead by a tractor-trailer at the 199.3-mile marker in Scott Township, approximately 12 miles north of Scranton, troopers detailed in a release.
