Contractor Accused Of Ripping Off $10K From Homeowner In Region A 21-year-old contractor from the Capital Region has been charged with allegedly ripping off a homeowner of a $10,000 deposit after he failed to perform work on the victim's home. Saratoga County resident Michael T. Maralett, of Greenfield, was charged with grand larceny and traffic violation on Thursday, Feb. 1, said Trooper Stepanie O'Neil of the New York State Police. Police have arrested a suspected hit-and-run driver hours after he allegedly struck and killed a woman at a crosswalk in the region. The Saratoga County incident happened at around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, on State Route 50 in the town of Ballston. A preliminary investigation found that a vehicle was driving northbound on State Route 50 when it struck a woman in a marked crosswalk near Brookline Road, according to New York State Police.
