Driver Strikes, Seriously Injures Bicyclist In Region, Police Say One person was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Northern Westchester. It happened around 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 in Yorktown on Route 118 in the area of the North County Trail. An initial investigation revealed that a bicycle being ridden by a 66-year-old Mamaroneck resident was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 71-year-old Rhinebeck resident, said Lt. John Deiulio, of Yorktown Police. Man Killed In Crash After Failing To Stop At Intersection, Police Say A 37-year-old man was killed after allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign on an area roadway, according to police. New York City resident Christian P. Brink, of Brooklyn, was the victim of the Dutchess County crash that happened 4:15 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the town of Amenia, said New York State Trooper AJ Hicks. Fatal Crash Causes Hours-Long Closure On Taconic Parkway This story has been updated. A stretch of the Taconic State Parkway was closed throughout the morning commute following a fatal crash. The closure was southbound in Hopewell Junction between Route 29/Carpenter Road and Route 52. The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, but the lanes remained closed until around 10:30 a.m. during the accident investigation. During the closure, motorists were advised by authorities to take Route 9 as an alternate or to get off at Beekman Road and take Route 376 to Route 52, then get back on the Taconic.
