A 37-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting at three juveniles from his vehicle.

Justin Haywood, of Denver, Colorado, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 15, after Town of Poughkeepsie Police responded to the area of Innis Avenue near Arnold Road around 3:48 p.m., said Capt. Joseph Cavaliere of the town police department.

The three juveniles were not hit by the bullets, but police did find a stray bullet in an area home, Cavaliere said.

After interviewing witnesses, police sent out a description of Haywood's vehicle and a short time later he was taken into custody by the City of Poughkeepsie Police and turned over to town police, Cavaliere said.

Haywood was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Police have not released further info, including what may have prompted Haywood to open fire.

He was arraigned on Thursday, Jan. 16, and is being held without bail Dutchess County Jail.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
