Long Island Man Busted With More Than 100 Animals Inside Home A Long Island man was charged with illegal possession of endangered wildlife after officials uncovered more than 100 animals, many endangered, inside his home. The unnamed North Bellmore resident's home was raided on Tuesday, Jan. 23 by officials from the state Department of Environmental Conservation and the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Possible Bobcat Sighting Reported In West Islip Police are searching for what could be a bobcat after receiving a report of a wild cat on Long Island. The sighting took place in Suffolk County in the area of Boulevard Avenue in West Islip around 10:40 a.m., Tuesday, July 26. Police responded to the area and the animal was not located, said the Suffolk County Police. Bird With Fishing Lure Stuck In Beak Rescued In Babylon Authorities rescued an injured gosling that was found with a fishing lure stuck in its beak on Long Island. Environmental Conservation Police Officer Dickson received a report about the injured bird in Argyle Lake in Babylon on Thursday, June 16, according to The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Dickson found the gosling swimming near the shore by a bridge and contacted Wildlife Rehabilitator Bobby Horvath to help with the rescue. Dickson and Horvath caught the gosling, clipped the hook, and released the animal back into the lake, the DEC reported.

The turtles were found when officials with the state Department of Environmental Conservation discovered an online ad offering painted turtles for sale in Nassau County in Hempstead. After discovering the ad, a DEC officer posed as an interested customer and contacted the seller who offered five painted turtles for $200, the department said. Woman Finds Large Bearded Dragon Lizard Under Garbage Can On Long Island A Long Island woman received quite a surprise while taking out her garbage, she was greeted by a large breaded dragon lizard. The Nassau County Police said the incident took place around 6:20 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, in New Hyde Park. According to officers, a woman called 911 after finding a lizard under her garbage can in the vicinity of Lake Drive.  Officers located a bearded dragon which was catatonic and were able to safely placed the lizard in a container and brought it to their patrol car for warmth.  Nassau County Police were able to capture a large bearded dragon lizard that…
