Man Killed, Woman Critically Injured In Single-Vehicle Suffolk County Crash A driver was killed and a passenger critically injured in a single-vehicle crash on Long Island overnight. It happened Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020 at approximately 9:50 p.m. in Middle Island. Jesse Ahern, 38, of Center Moriches, was driving a 2009 Honda Civic northbound on West Bartlett Road, south of East Bartlett Road, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a fire hydrant and a tree, Suffolk County Police said. Mastic Woman Charged In Middle Island Home Burglary A woman has been taken into police custody after she and a man were caught on camera breaking into and burglarizing a Middle Island home by a doorbell surveillance cam. Cheryl Liggon, 36, of Mastic, was arrested on Monday, June 17 by Suffolk County Police investigators after allegedly burglarizing and ransacking a West Bartlett Road on Wednesday, June 12. Liggon was held overnight and scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Slip on Tuesday, June 18.
