Man Struck, Killed By Train On Lirr Tracks In Suffolk County A man trespassing on Long Island Rail Road tracks was struck and killed by a freight train overnight. Officials said that the man - whose name has not been released - was struck at approximately 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 in Suffolk County near the Waverly Avenue crossing in Holtsville. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The fatal incident forced the cancelation of subsequent trains that were scheduled to travel through the area as police investigated. The crash happened around 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12 in  Holtsville. Suspect On Loose After Armed Robbery At Suffolk 7-Eleven Major Case Unit detectives on Long Island are investigating an early morning armed robbery at an area 7-Eleven. A suspect entered 7-Eleven on Waverly Avenue in Holtsville at approximately 2:40 on Tuesday, Jan. 21, allegedly brandishing a weapon and demanding cash, police said. He then proceeded to flee on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Additional details of the robbery have not been released.
