6 Thieves Loot Long Island Store, Drive Cars Through Front Doors: Police Two out of six alleged thieves were arrested after they crashed stolen cars into a Long Island store, making off with merchandise, police said. It happened on Monday, Jan. 15 in Wantagh, according to Nassau County Police. Just before 5 a.m., a group of six people in BMWs crashed through the front doors of Simplex, a streetwear apparel store located at 3302 Merrick Road. Long Island Man Ditches Stolen Vehicle, Tries To Escape On Bicycle, Police Say A local man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from police on Long Island in a stolen vehicle, and then trying to escape on a bicycle.  Joseph A Minnieer, age 31, of Island Park, was arrested at 146 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, after he was spotted by an officer driving a stolen vehicle through his police vehicle's plate reader, said the Long Beach Police Department.
