6-Year-Old Girl Run Over By Jeep While Sledding On Long Island, Police Say A 6-year-old Long Island girl was injured after being run over while sledding in a parking lot by a relative who was loading a Jeep Wranger that began to roll and hit the child. The incident took place around noon, on Sunday, Jan. 30 in the parking lot of Southampton Youth Services, said Lt. Susan Ralph, of the Southampton Town Police. According to Ralph, the child had been sledding, when the relative started the 2007 Jeep in the parking lot and began loading the vehicle when it began to roll forward and then struck the child. Missing Southampton Kayaker Found Dead A Long Island man who went missing on his kayak with his dog has been found dead. John Jackman, age 55, of Southampton, was reported missing to police around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 16 after taking out his kayak with his dog. According to Southampton Police, family and friends became concerned after Jackman's dog returned home, but he did not. The incident was reported to Southampton Police around 2 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 28, from a resident on Mecox Road, in Watermill, that two of his Mercedes vehicles were just taken from his driveway. Female Jogger Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Van In Suffolk County A woman was seriously injured after being struck by a work van on Long Island. The incident happened just after 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 in Watermill. The Southampton Town Emergency Call Center received a call for a jogger struck by a work van. Several patrol vehicles responded to the scene to find the female jogger struck by a work van. The driver of the van remained at the scene.
