Holtsville Woman Killed After Being Struck By Pickup Truck On Mount Sinai Roadway A Long Island woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing a roadway. The incident took place in Mount Sinai around 10:55 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, on County Road 83. According to Suffolk County Police, Ann Marie Montgomery, age 42, of Holtsville, was walking westbound on northbound County Road 83, north of Canal Road, when she was struck in the left lane by a 2018 Ford F150, driven by James Gerardi. Two Kayakers Rescued From Long Island Sound Two kayakers in distress were rescued on Long Island Sound by an area fire department. The rescue took place around 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 28 on Long Island after the Port Jefferson Fire Department in Suffolk County was alerted by the US Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound of a possible kayaker in distress. The department's Marine Unit 6 along with Suffolk County Police Department Marine Delta were dispatched to the inlet of Port Jefferson Harbor, the department said. Raging House Fire Causes Extensive Damage To Suffolk County Home A fully involved Long Island house fire took seven fire departments to extinguish. The blaze began around 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4 in Miller Place, on Henearly Drive. The first units arriving on the scene found the two-story residential building in blaze, said the Miller Fire Department.
