The incidents began around 6 p.m. in the town of Southold when officers were alerted to a potentially suicidal man. Responding officers were told that the man was in possession of a handgun and would allegedly shoot responding officers and then himself, said Lt. Scott Latham, of the Southold Police. The incident happened on Saturday, July 10, at about 4:45 p.m. in Atlantic Beach, according to the Nassau County Police Department.  The 1-year-old girl was locked in a car with the air conditioner set to "on," but the car had automatically shut off., said police.  Officers reportedly broke the window to free the girl.  The Atlantic Beach Fire Department Medics then evaluated the girl and determined she was healthy and could be returned to her family. A man and woman were on a 14-foot Capri sailboat at approximately 10:55 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16 in Wantagh, when a gust of wind overturned the vessel, stranding them both in the water. Nassau County Police officers in Marine 1 were dispatched to the area, and were able to locate the victims and their vessel. The incident took place just before 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 10 in the Nassau County village of Bellerose. Man Suffers Possible Hypothermia After Falling Off Long Island Dock Into Canal Waters Police and a Good Samaritan rescued a Long Island man who fell off a dock into the water. The incident took place around 12:20 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 31, on Clubhouse Road in Merrick, said Nassau County Police. Brothers Rescued From Disabled Boat In Long Island Sound In Suffolk Two brothers had to be rescued from the Long Island Sound after their rowboat became stranded miles from the shore. Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers responded shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10 after two Brentwood brothers found themselves stranded approximately three miles off Sunken Meadow Beach. Police said that Estras Ruiz Treminio, 19, and Misael Ruiz Treminio, 21, were on a 10-foot rowboat in the Sound with no motor and only one paddle.
