Man Struck, Killed By Car On Long Island Street An 85-year-old Long Island man is dead after a car hit him as he tried to cross the street, police said. The incident happened in Manhasset on Thursday, Dec. 28, according to Nassau County Police. Mykola Rybalka, age 85 of Manhasset, was crossing Plandome Road, heading east at around 5:30 p.m. when the car, a 2021 Infiniti, hit him. It is unclear where on Plandome Road he was crossing.  The Infiniti, driven by a 79-year-old man, was driving north on Plandome Road. Rybalka was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.

A 22-year-old man was inside Greens Irish Pub, located at 436 Plandome Road, when he became involved in a verbal argument with an unknown white adult man, Nassau County Police said. The driver was in Manhasset, heading eastbound on Vanderbilt Avenue near Plandome Road at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 when he suffered the medical emergency and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles. Woman Crossing Busy Long Island Intersection Struck, Killed By Car A woman crossing a busy Long Island intersection was struck and killed by a car. It happened on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 8:05 p.m. in Manhasset. While attempting to cross Plandome Road, from the east side to the west side, a woman was struck by a 2018 Toyota traveling northbound in the vicinity of Park Avenue. The 79-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries and was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead at 11:52 pm by a hospital physician. The female operator, 79, remained at the scene. The vehicle was brake and safety checked. The investigation is ongoing.

Man Scammed $8K From Long Island 85-Year-Old, Police Say An 85-year-old was bilked out of thousands of dollars by a Long Island man who was the target of a phone scammer, police said. George Rodriguez, of Roosevelt, was arrested after he scammed his elderly victim out of $8,000 when he claimed his grandson had been arrested in Atlantic City and needed money, according to Nassau County Police detectives. Police said that the victim was instructed to withdraw the cash and bring it to a location on Plandome Road, which he did, handing over the money to an unknown person.
