Woman Who Worked As Director Of Lynbrook Charity Convicted Of Stealing $1 Million For Luxuries A federal jury convicted a Merrick woman who is the former director of a Long Island Charity of stealing almost $1 million for luxury items such as vacations and cosmetic surgeries. Wafa Abboud, 51, the former executive director of Human First, a charity in Lynbrook that serves developmentally disabled people, was convicted of embezzling funds, bank fraud, and money laundering.  The verdict followed a two-week trial before United States District Judge Edward R.
