Long Island Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash A 50-year-old Long Island man was killed in a single-vehicle crash overnight. It happened around 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9 in South Farmingdale.  Gary Yander, of South Farmingdale, was traveling westbound in a 2008 Cadillac on Motor Avenue when he struck multiple fixed objects in the vicinity of Merritts Road, Nassau County Police said. He sustained multiple trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Police Medic.  The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Suspect Nabbed For String Of Larcenies At Four Long Island Stop & Shop Locations A wanted man who was caught red-handed stealing from a Long Island grocery store was connected to a string of larcenies at area Stop & Shop locations, police said. An employee at Stop & Shop on Motor Avenue in South Farmingdale spotted a man attempting to conceal allergy medication without paying at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Upon arrival, police said that officers spotted the man, Manhattan resident Edward Robinson, remove two bags of paid items from a shopping cart and exiting without attempting to pay for the merchandise.
