Owner Missing After Boat Washes Up With No One On Board At Smith Point Beach Authorities are searching for the owner of a 25-foot pleasure boat that washed ashore on Long Island. US Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Schultz said the boat washed ashore around 8:15 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30, on the ocean side of Smith Point Beach.  There was no one aboard at the time it was found, but all of the electronic equipment was "energized" and working, Schultz said.  The Coast Guard was alerted by the Suffolk County Police who took part in a massive search for the owner that included boats and aircraft on Monday, Oct. 31. Humpback Whale Makes Big City Splash In NY Harbor A humpback whale made quite a splash with a group of fisherman in New York City, making a surprise appearance off the coast of Staten Island. The whale was spotted by Alex Carr and several of his co-workers from the Staten Island Zoo who were celebrating a friend’s birthday out on Raritan Bay. The large whale was approximately 100 feet from the boat at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17 when Carr and his buddies managed to snap several photos. ID Released For Shirley Woman Killed When Boat Is Struck By 50-Foot Sea Ray Both women killed in separate boat crashes on Long Island on Sunday, July 14 has been identified. The most recent crash happened around 6:30 p.m. east of Moriches Inlet, when a 50-foot Sea Ray with three people aboard was traveling westbound a quarter mile off Cupsogue Beach at Cupsogue Beach County Park when it struck a drifting boat broadside with a married couple aboard, Suffolk County Police said.
