Details Emerge After Fire Rips Through Row Of Stores On Long Island New details have been released after an early morning four-alarm fire damaged several businesses at a Long Island shopping plaza. The fire started around 2:40 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22 in Cedarhurst when Nassau County Police called the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department reporting smoke coming from the building. The building, located at 604 Central Avenue, is home to a yogurt and ice cream store, a dry cleaner, pharmacy, and a pizza restaurant.  Officers responded to the building within minutes and were met by an employee who opened one of the businesses.
