Long Island Expressway Reopens Following Crash Involving Police Cruiser
A stretch of the Long Island Expressway has reopened after being closed for several hours following a crash between two vehicles and a Suffolk County Police cruiser.
The crash took place eastbound around 12:35 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, near Exit 52 in Commack, said a spokeswoman for the Suffolk County Police.
According to police, a Highway Patrol officer was in his vehicle, conducting a traffic stop on the right shoulder, when his vehicle was struck from the rear by another vehicle, the spokeswoman said.
