Long Island Man Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Police Car
A Long Island man was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing into a police car. It happened on Friday, Feb. 14 at around 8:10 p.m. in South Farmingdale, according to police. An officer responding to a 911 call, operating a marked police car, was traveling south on Merritts Road near the intersection of Country Court when his vehicle was struck by Raymond D. Matos, 65, of Lynbrook, Nassau County Police said. Matos was operating a 1997 Ford Ecoline van traveling northbound on Merritts Road, operating the vehicle unsafely, according to police.
