A 43-year-old woman is facing charges on Long Island after police said she "menaced" her former employee with a knife and a mop handle and broke the former employee's cell phone. Libbie Mugrabi, of Sag Harbor, was arrested at her home on Tuesday, Nov. 22, the Southampton Town Police Department reported. The arrest stemmed from an incident that happened on July 31, when Mugrabi argued with her former employee over a payment that was owed, and the argument escalated, authorities reported. LI Man Who Hasn't Paid Mortgage In 23 Years Will Be Evicted, Judge Rules
After missing mortgage payments for more than 23 years, a New York man is set to be evicted from his home after a new ruling from a judge. A judge ruled that Long Island resident Guramrit Hanspal does not qualify for COVID-19 eviction protections because he has been illegally squatting in the Nassau County home and is not a renter, according to the Daily Mail. More than 60 housing rights protesters were arrested at the state Capitol in Albany on Tuesday, June 4. They want to extend New York City’s rent regulations to Upstate and portions of the New York City suburbs that don't have rent control.
