2 Hospitalized, 1 In Critical Condition, After Wrong-Way, Head-On DWI Crash In Southampton One person suffered critical injuries in a wrong-way, head-on overnight crash involving an allegedly drunk driver on Long Island. It happened just after 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 on the Sunrise Highway (Route 27) between exits 65 and 64, in Southampton. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a 2020 Ford Explorer, a 50-year-old East Quogue man, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes on Sunrise Highway when the Explorer struck a 2016 Volkswagen GTI, head-on.
