Fatal Crash: Man Struck By Jeep Driven By Teen At Busy Copiague Intersection Police are investigating after a man was killed in a crash at a busy intersection on Long Island. It happened just before noontime Friday, Oct. 6 in Copiague. A man was walking southbound across eastbound Sunrise Highway (Route 27), at 35th Street, when he was struck by an eastbound 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Suffolk County Police said. Man Dies From Injuries In Suffolk County House Fire A Long Island man who was critically injured during a house fire earlier this week has died from his injuries. Ivory Dean, age 67, of Copiague, died on Thursday, Sept. 23 from the injuries suffered on Sunday, Sept. 19, Suffolk County Police said. The fire started at the home located at 302 Deauville Blvd., in Copiague around 2:50 p.m., police said. When members of the Copiague Fire Department entered the house they found Dean unconscious. The blaze broke out in Suffolk County at 2:50 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19, on the 300 block of Deauville Boulevard, in Copiague. According to police, officials were notified of the fire by a 911 caller.  Members of the Copiague Fire Department entered the house and found the man unconscious. Man Critically Injured In Single-Car Suffolk County Crash A Long Island man suffered critical injuries in a single-car crash. The man, Michael Degore, age 27, was driving a 2016 Chrysler 300 southbound in Lindenhurst on South Strong Avenue when he veered off the road, struck a telephone pole, and then hit a parked vehicle at approximately 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, Suffolk County Police said. Degore, of Lindenhurst, was ejected from the Chrysler, which then became fully engulfed. The Copiague Fire Department extinguished the fire.
