Emergency Federal Action Approved To Fix Coastal Damage On Fire Island Elected officials have announced the approval of emergency federal action that will allow engineers to assess and repair damaged coastal areas of Long Island's Fire Island.  According to an announcement by New York Gov. Monkeypox Vaccine Clinics in Suffolk County Fill Up Within Hours Of Opening As news broke that Northwell Health and Suffolk County would begin offering monkeypox vaccines on Long Island, all slots for appointments filled up within hours. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced on Monday, July 11, that the county would open six pop-up clinics on Fire Island on Thursday, July 14.  Following the announcement, all slots were full, but officials say there will be more vaccines on the way. Woman Accused Of Stealing iPhone Watch From Beach Bag On Fire Island A woman has been accused of stealing personal items from a beach bag on Fire Island. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Seventh Precinct Crime Section officers are on the lookout for a woman, pictured above, who is suspected of stealing a beach bag from a beach in Cherry Grove on Sunday, Aug. 11 around 6 p.m. The woman took several items out of the bag, including credit cards, jewelry and an Apple watch, before leaving it nearby and fleeing the scene, according to police.
