Car Crashes Into Utility Pole, Causing Gas Leak, Knocking Out Power In Community On Long Island Some Long Island residents were forced from their homes after a car crashed into a utility pole, causing a gas leak and power outages overnight. Nassau County Police officers, while on routine patrol, discovered the single-vehicle crash in Bethpage involving a gray 2020 Subaru Rx, which struck a utility pole at Central Avenue and Hicksville Road around 1 a.m. Tuesday, June 29.
