Southold Police Rescue Suicidal Man, Three People Whose Boat Capsized
Police on Long Island responding to a suicidal man who had hung himself, found themselves at the same time working to save three people whose boat had capsized. The incidents began around 6 p.m. in the town of Southold when officers were alerted to a potentially suicidal man. Responding officers were told that the man was in possession of a handgun and would allegedly shoot responding officers and then himself, said Lt. Scott Latham, of the Southold Police. Man Saved By Southampton Bay Constables After Legs Hit By Boat Propeller
A man was saved on Long Island by Bay Constables after both of his legs were hit by a boat's propeller. The accident took place around 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 29 in Suffolk County in Noyac Creek in Southhampton. According to Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph, the injured man was transported to a residence where Bay Constables were the first to arrive. Once on the scene, Constables Chris Fraser immediately applied tourniquets to both legs which slowed the victim’s blood loss. Three Rescued After Sailboating Accident On Long Island Sound, Police Say
Three were rescued from the Long Island Sound after crashing their sailboat into a rock, police in Westchester said. New Rochelle Police officers responded in Marine I to Davenport Reef on the Long Island Sound at approximately 6:44 p.m. on Monday, May 31, when a 27-foot sailboat struck a rock and took on water. Police said that the captain of the sailboat was able to navigate the boat toward the Davenport Beach Club and began capsizing approximately 100 yards off the shore.
