Woman Struck, Killed By SUV At Busy Long Island Intersection

A woman died after being struck by an SUV at a busy intersection on Long Island overnight.

It happened around 10:47 p.m. in Massapequa Park, Nassau County Police said. 

According to detectives, while attempting to cross Sunrise Highway (Route 27) at the intersection of Carol Drive, the elderly woman was struck by an eastbound 2005 Chevy Tahoe.

As a result of the collision, the woman suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead by a staff physician. 

The victim’s identity has not been determined.

The investigation into the accident continues.
