Victoria Villatoro of Bay Shore was driving a 2018 Toyota RAV 4 eastbound on the LIE in Medford between exits 62 and 63, when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an eastbound 2000 Jeep driven by Marilyn Morse, 47, of Bellport at approximately 12:50 a.m. Saturday, June 22, Suffolk Police said.

Villatoro fled the scene in the Toyota, left the LIE at exit 64, and continued northbound on Route 112, according to police. Villatoro then turned into the parking lot of S & H Building Material Corporation, located at 3177 Route 112 in Medford, where she was arrested at 1:27 a.m., police said.

The children, ages 5 and 7, were released to the custody of their aunt and grandparents, police said. Villatoro’s 22-year-old daughter was also a passenger in the Toyota. The vehicle was impounded.

Villatoro was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger (Leandra’s Law), leaving the scene of an accident (property violation), and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Villatoro is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, June 22.
