Three Charged After Pair Of Stolen Vehicles Seized On Long Island

Three people have been arrested after police recovered two stolen cars in Nassau County.

According to Nassau County Police, officers, while on routine patrol, were notified by a license plate reader of a stolen vehicle just before 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16 in Elmont.

The officers identified the vehicle, a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Elmont Road. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen and the operator was placed under arrest without incident, police said.

During the course of a thorough investigation, it was determined that another vehicle, 2010 Honda Accord, had also been stolen in connection with the first vehicle. The Honda Accord was located in Mineola.

The following were arrested:

  • Thomas Allen Lauri, 20, Mineola, (operator of Jeep Grand Cherokee)
  • Justin Lord-Signore, 17, Mineola, (operator of Honda Accord)
  • Jorge Santizo-Lanuza, 20, Cedarhurst, (passenger of Honda Accord)

Allen, Santizio-Lanuza and Lord-Signore are charged with criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Allen is also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation. 

They were scheduled tol be arraigned on Friday, Aug. 16 at First District Court, Hempstead.
