A Long Island teenager has been arrested for an alleged murder that took place in 2020 in Hempstead.
Denis Gutierrez-Marcos, age 18, of Hempstead was arrested on Friday, April 30, for the Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020 homicide that left Edwin Guerrero, age 22, of Hempstead dead, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, Village of Hempstead Police Officers responded to 43 High Street for a call of persons shot by an unknown subject from a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located two men with gunshot wounds. The two men were transported to area hospitals. The 24-year-old male victim survived.
Guerrero died at the hospital, police said.
Gutierrez-Marco was arrested and charged with:
- Two counts of attempted murder
- Criminal use of a firearm
- Criminal possession of a weapon
- Possession of a dangerous weapon for two prior incidents.
He will be arraigned Friday in Mineola.
