A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with an allegedly violent armed robbery at a Long Island park.

Gregory Czaplicki, of Glen Cove, was arrested Sunday, March 8, in connection with a robbery that took place around 10:35 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at Veterans Memorial Park in Sea Cliff, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, a 23-year-old male victim was sitting in his car at the park when he was allegedly approached by Czaplicki.

Czaplicki opened the car door, demanded the victim’s wallet and struck the victim multiple times while displaying a knife. He then fled the scene on foot eastbound on 12th Avenue, police said.

Following an investigation, police identified Czaplicki as the suspect. He was charged with robbery, assault, and menacing.
