Man Killed In Sunrise Highway Service Road Crash

A Suffolk County man was killed after a single-vehicle crash on the Sunrise Highway Service Road.

It happened around 5 p.m. Thursday, August 8 in North Patchogue, Suffolk County Police said.

Anthony Orlando, 52, of Roberts Road in Shirley, was driving a 2003 Ford pickup when the vehicle veered off the roadway east of Waverly Avenue and crashed on the eastbound Sunrise Highway Service Road, police said.

Orlando was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.

The Ford was impounded for a safety check.
