A man was killed after being struck by two vehicles at a busy Long Island intersection.

The incident happened on Thursday, June 11 at 11 p.m. in Hempstead.

While attempting to cross Peninsula Boulevard on foot at the intersection of Washington Street, the man, who has yet to be identified, was first hit by a 2011 Toyota Camry, Nassau County Police said.

The Toyota was traveling north on Peninsula Boulevard and was being operated by a 34-year-old man, police said.

A second vehicle, a 2012 Nissan Murano, that was in the adjacent lane on Peninsula Blvd., being operated by a 54-year-old woman, also struck the pedestrian who was on the ground. Both operators remained at the scene for police arrival.

The pedestrian, who suffered multiple trauma injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
