No one was home at the time, according to police.
Beinlich reportedly placed several of the stolen items in a wooded area behind the house and called a taxi to pick him up, said police.
When the taxi arrived, neighbors saw Beinlich carrying the safe to the waiting taxi, according to police.
The neighbors called 911 and then detained Beinlich until Sixth Precinct officers arrived, police said.
