The incident took place in Westbury around 8:40 p.m., Monday, July 18.

According to detectives, William Solarzano, age 18, and Jennifer Coreas, age 24, both of Hempstead, entered Olivia’s Laundromat located at 535 Old Country Road to do laundry.

Solarzano told a female employee the change machine did not dispense quarters after he inserted his money, Nassau County Police said.

The employee explained a refund would be sent through the mail but Solarzano allegedly became angry because he could not get his money immediately, police said.

The employee went into a room marked “For Employees Only” posted on the door. Solarzano opened the door and entered the room and pushed the employee and a struggle ensued before he removed $20 from her hand, police said.

The Coreas and Solarzano fled the scene in a white 2022 Acura, police said.

A thorough investigation was conducted which led to the arrest of both Zolalrzano and Coreas.

Both were charged with second-degree robbery; Solarzano was also charged with burglary.

They were held for arraignment on Tuesday, July 19 in Hempstead.
