24-Year-Old Man Killed Crossing Long Island Roadway

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Long Island.

The accident took place around 9:08 p.m., Monday, Feb. 3, while the pedestrian was attempting to cross the Nassau Expressway in Inwood, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, while attempting to cross Mott Avenue, from the east side to the west side, a 24-year-old man was hit by a 1995 Honda traveling northbound on the expressway. 

The unidentified man suffered multiple injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The 25-year-old driver of the Honda remained at the scene. 

Following the accident, the vehicle was brake and safety checked by investigators.

An investigation is ongoing.
