North Amityville Restaurant Shut Down After 5 Workers Charged During SLA Inspection

According to Suffolk County Police, at around 10:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, three patrons inside Casa Bella, located in North Amityville at 577 Broadway, were found in possession of cocaine in plain view.

During the investigation, police say unclaimed drugs were also discovered on the floor. 

The manager of the restaurant, Henry Segovia, age 34, of West Babylon, was charged with criminal nuisance for operating a disorderly premise, a misdemeanor. 

Another man was arrested for an active warrant.

Cruz Guillen-Mejia, age 39, who police say is undomiciled, was charged with both criminal possession of a controlled substance and arrested for an active warrant for trespass.

Selvin Garcia, age 23, of North Amityville, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Osmin Alvarenga-Hernandez, age 29, of Wyandanch, was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th Degree.

Helmer Alvarado, age 43, of West Babylon, was arrested for an active warrant for a vehicle and traffic law violation.

The business was shut down by the Town of Babylon and referred to the State Liquor Authority for further investigation. 

The Town of Babylon Fire Marshal and Building Inspector issued multiple summonses for code violations. 

The five charged were issued appearance tickets and are due to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, Feb. 23.

The investigation was conducted by Suffolk County PD 

First Precinct Crime Section, Community Support Unit, and patrol officers in conjunction with:

  •  New York State Liquor Authority,
  • The Town of Babylon Quality of Life Team,
  • NYS DMV Division of Field Investigation.
