A friendly vibe and popular fare seem to be the winning combo drawing a steady following to a neighborhood bar and grill on Long Island.
Lion's Den at 191 Higbie Lane in West Islip has a sign at the entrance inviting you into the neighborhood spot for "Good times, good food."
The fun includes football nights and "Quick Draw" specials, happy hour, taco days, yoga classes, band and DJs.
The eclectic menu ranges from apps like soft-baked pretzels and fried ravioli, to entrees with 12 different burgers, an array of Philly cheesesteaks, quesadillas, salads, sandwiches and specialties of English-style fish and chips and braised short rib sliders.
Reviewers mention the atmosphere, food, and staff in social media posts.
On Facebook, Philip Weisbroat posted, "Really nice place. From the outside, it looks very small and neighborhood-like. Once inside you find some great food, good bartenders and TVs all around for your sports. They have live bands and the feel is very comfortable. I'll be back for sure."
J.R.K., of Patchogue on Yelp , says, "Their Buffalo Thai wings are phenomenal! Always order it for Super Bowl or any other party, really easy to just walk in, pay, and walk out even when crowded. Haven't had anything bad there either. All other food is standard bar food. They have boxes for Super Bowl and other games too."
